Here’s a view of the Atchafalaya Basin located just north of Morgan City, part of one of the largest swamps in the United States.

Although difficult to see in this picture, a tugboat with its tow is shown traveling along the Port Allen route toward Baton Rouge.

The aging Long-Allen bridge connecting Highway 182 between Berwick and Morgan City (looking from the Berwick side of the river).  The narrow bridge was constructed in the early 1930’s, but isn’t due for a major renovation for another fifty years.

The Southwest Reef Lighthouse is part of the Everett S. Berry Lighthouse Park in Berwick.  The US 90 and Hwy 182 bridges are in the background.
