Pierre Part is a predominantly Cajun community located among the swamps and bayous and has a more backwoods atmosphere.  Some of the most prettiest bayous and waterways can be seen in this area.

Here are two views of downtown Pierre Part. This waterway is called, “Pierre Part Bay.”  The Garden of Eden couldn't have been nicer.  As can be seen in the photo on the right, houseboats are a typical mode of housing in this area.

Bayou Lafourche, which vies with Bayou Teche as the most famous bayou in Louisiana.  It's 120 mile length has been referred to as the "longest main street in the world" due to the number of communities and houses that were established along its banks.  LA 1 runs along one side of the bayou (though for many years, the road was of secondary importance while boat was the preferred transportation on the bayou).  Bridges were rare (often spaced far apart) and were highly valued.
