On the left is the skyline of Shreveport, often referred to as a typically “Texan” city located inside Lousiana borders.  Right is the Texas Street Bridge which crosses the Red River.  It’s famous for a spectacular neon-light display after dark.

Below is an oil well featured in Oil City’s park, located on one side of the main street—with the buildings of the town on the other.

Above: Oil City.  Oil City was featured as the setting for a low budget movie called, The Creature from Black Lake. The movie was based on the “Fouke Monster,” a bigfoot-type creature that allegedly roams this corner of Northern Louisiana and Southern Arkansas.  Oil City is famous for hundreds of oil wells dotted throughout the landscape.

   Above: An artist’s depiction of the “Fouke Monster,” painted on the side of the “Monster Mart” in Fouke, Arkansas, located just a few miles north of the Louisiana border. The Fouke Monster was featured in several 1970’s movies, The Legend of Boggy Creek and Return to Boggy Creek.
   In Creature from Black Lake the monster harrasses the Louisiana citizens of Oil City.
